Saint Petersburg State University’s online courses are aimed to help students prepare for admission to higher education in the most effective and straightforward way. They are developed by experienced University professors and conducted remotely. This format allows for individual study at any convenient time and place. The courses can be done part-time and even combined with any other studies as every course only takes a few hours per week to complete.

The courses’ topics cover a wide range fields, such as exact, natural and social sciences, humanities, arts and culture. Since 2018, Saint Petersburg State University accepts certificates of completion from online courses as individual achievements when applying for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. These achievements bring five additional points. The links to online courses available in 2021 are listed on the webpages of each educational programme. Apart from that, a complete course list with references to relevant programmes can be found in the University Admission Rules of 2021.

Moreover, since 2021, whenever several candidates show an equal number of points when applying to the University, a certificate in any online course will be counted as an additional individual achievement (for more details on this see sections 7.18.5. and 7.19.6. in the University Admission Rules).

The Centre for Online Education Development, one of the newest University departments, designs and promotes online courses. For free access to these, you need to register at Open Education or Coursera and sign up for a course of your choice.
